Today we are going to talk about having fun with your Technic and EV3 pieces. For our FLL team, part of sitting around and building robots and attachments involves build “doodling.” We are not doodling on paper. We are “doodling” with the LEGO pieces themselves! We are building little structures as we mess with the pieces, learning how they work and coming up with new ideas. One of our recent ideas was to make LEGO Technic fidget spinners!

Have fun with your EV3

We have mentioned this in other articles but remember to never be afraid to mess around with pieces and build something random, but that also means don’t be afraid to break it too. If you have any time just mess around with your pieces you might even come up with a solution of how to complete a mission, learn something new, or learn how to use a piece!

LEGO Technic fidget spinners

When we were messing around with our pieces earlier one of our team members made three LEGO fidget spinners! Each of them can spin freely once flicked.

Basic fidget spinner

This fidget spinner is made up of 90 degree angle pieces, two long axles, a three long non-friction connector, a three-branch crosshole, and some three-branch cross axles.

“Darth Maul” fidget spinner

This fidget spinner is made up of angle pieces, two long axles, a three long non-friction connector, smooth one by one clear red pieces, a three-branch crosshole, and three red Technic teeth with axle hole. This fidget spinner is designed and decorated to look like Star Wars Darth Maul.

LEGO “Friends” fidget spinner

This fidget spinner is made up of angle pieces, two long axles, a three long non friction connector, flower pieces, cherry pieces, an ice cream piece, a star piece, a diamond piece, and a three-branch crosshole. This fidget spinner is designed and decorated using pieces from LEGO Friends sets.
